BMTH 301, Introduction to Biomathematics: Continuous Models

BMTH electives count as MA electives for all majors.

BMTH 301 requires no previous knowledge of biology.

Prerequisite: MA222 (DE2)

Topics will be adapted to student interest. Topics may include:

  • Modeling of Disease Outbreaks and Vaccination
  • Population Modeling
  • Neuroscience
  • Biofluids
  • Regulation of Genetic Circuits
  • Enzyme Kinetics

To study these systems, we'll use tools from your calculus and differential equations courses.
We'll also learn some new mathematics, such as partial differential equations, dynamical systems, and probability.
